Summer is Here!

While some of our members continue with school throughout the summer, many have said good-bye to formal classes for a few weeks.  Some have completed their years of active homeschooling by graduating their last child; and we wish all of you blessings as you move to the next season of your lives.  We reserve the right, however, to call on you as our friends for wisdom, help, and guidance in the years to come.  Everyone knows that you never really leave the homeschooling community – we will unofficially grant you “Emeritus” status.

In addition to those who are leaving the ranks of active home schools, we wish to welcome the many new families who are looking to begin.  The most encouraging thing that I can say to you who are new to homeschooling is that you do not have to go it alone!  I am so glad that you have found our website.  Please browse all of the areas available here.  You will find copies of our bylaws, the Kentucky “Best Practices Document” (an agreement between homeschooling groups and the state that outlines the expectations for homeschooling in Kentucky), our upcoming scheduled events, and information about The Learning Zone (CHB’s cooperative education program).  All of these areas are being updated during the first few weeks of July, so check back often to see what is new.

More important than the documents and information available on the website, we want to invite you to join us and take advantage of the many years of experience that our members have to offer you.  On the Board of Directors alone, we have members whose experience in homeschooling adds up to decades – many with 10+ years under our belts.   I think it would be mind-boggling to add up all of the years of homeschooling experience that is would be represented by our entire membership.   We invite all of you to join us for a discussion and education time called "Homeschooling 101".  We are still finalizing plans, but the event will be at 7:00 on either July 28 (Tuesday) or July 30 (Thursday) at Tates Creek Christian Church.  Please check the  Events page for final details.  This event will feature a panel of experienced homeschoolers who will present their views of homeschooling as well as answer your many questions.  We will also have several other homeschooling families available who are willing to keep in touch with you as you begin your journey.  You will not have to begin alone!

Christian Home Educators of the Bluegrass is unapologetically a Christian organization.  All members are encouraged to surround their schools with prayer and members must be active in a local group of believers.  Please join us as we look forward to another year of opportunities to raise and educate our children in the nurture and admonition of our Lord within the loving community that is CHB.  Feel free to contact any of the Board members via the links on the Contact Us page.
